Dr. Michael L. Griffin

Dr. Griffin graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1977. He then attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, graduating with a medical degree in 1980. His postgraduate medical training included one year of internship in family practice at the University of Illinois and one year pediatric internship at the University of Kentucky.
He completed a two-year residency in general pediatrics and a three-year pediatric cardiology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, including one year as honorary registrar at The Hospital for Sick Children at Great Ormond Street in London, England.
He held academic appointments as instructor and assistant professor in the Divisions of Pediatric Cardiology at Washington University (one year) and Stanford University (five years) and published articles on topics of dilated cardiomyopathy, preoperative cardiac diagnosis and management, postoperative cardiac assessment, and diagnostic evaluation of syncope. He entered private practice in the Bay Area in 1993.
He is Board certified and current in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology and licensed to practice medicine in California. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the San Mateo and Santa Clara Medical Societies, and on the hospital staffs at most Bay Area hospitals located on the Peninsula. His special medical interests include noninvasive cardiac imaging in children, fetal cardiac imaging, exercise physiology, childhood lipid abnormalities, and primary prevention of coronary heart disease.
